Tried and True

Hello all! Hopefully everyone is having an awesome Tuesday. A little fact about me I live with my cousin (same age) and sometimes my boyfriend spends the night. It's very rare that we all get to spend time together as a trio. But luckily the stars aligned on this specific day and "hanging out" became possible. We were whisked away to Williamsburg (always a favorite of mine) to St. Balmain's Coffee Shop to help plan my cousin's party. If you know me you know I love breakfast foods hence when I saw Sweet Chicks Chicken & Waffles I had no choice but to indulge. It was basically everything. I had to stop by the waterfront and take pictures of course.

P.S: Check out that food baby going on.

For days like these I usually stick to what always works. For example my waxed pants from H&M, a basic grey tee from Madewell (there crazy soft), my faux leather jacket from Zara, my all white wedge sneakers from Nike and my metallic cascading shawl from H&M.

Spring Essentials

Hola All! So up until recently (Tuesday evening) I'm pretty sure we were all dreaming up our ultimate spring wardrobe. You know that wardrobe that includes that printed Birkenstocks, the sliders, crop tops etc. Trust me I'm in the same boat. Well now I have to reconsider and run back to my sweatshirts (which I'm not terribly upset about).

There's nothing wrong with coveting your spring lust items, but don't forget the essentials. When I get dressed for spring/summer I'm basically looking for pieces that are easy to wear, minimizes sweat, lightweight, clean, and classic. That being said I composed a list of a couple of items that can easily help you make a spring outfit with little effort. (Which is what Between 5th and Idle is all about)

1. Nautical Striped Tee
2. Boyfriend Jeans
3. Aviator Sunglasses
4. Bucket Bag
5. Dark Denim high waist shorts
6. Button down dress shirt
7. Chunky strappy sandals
8. Wrap Bracelet

The beauty of all this is that every item is available at any price point. They can easily make any outfit great and can be paired with items that you already own.

Jardin

So remember last week when it was supposed to be warm. I fell for that one so fast. I took my chances and ventured outside to feel this supposed warm air. I immediately went back into my house to throw on a sweater over my clothes. It was basically freezing, the sun felt good though but it was still cold.

As you all know (or if you don't check out a couple of my past posts) I basically love sweatshirts. I don't know how many times I say it but it's basically the easiest thing to style. This particular sweatshirt is no different. I picked this up from Topshop while I was helping my friend pick out her outfit. I paired it with my trusty leather jacket from Zara, white coated pants from Zara, black tunic also from Topshop and my white Nike Wedge sneakers. Let me sidetrack a little. I was actually wearing the tunic first when I ran back upstairs for reinforcements but I really didn't feel like taking it off so I threw the sweatshirt over it.

ACDC

Hello all!! Happy Spring!! I want to introduce you to my unhealthy obsession to band shirts. As of right now I have The Beatles, ACDC, Jimi Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones. I'm looking to keep adding more because basically there awesome. For example I'm looking for the Yeezus Tour shirts. Seriously if you know where I can buy them please don't keep the information to yourself.

Okay besides that. Today was crazy nice and I had no choice but to enjoy it. I got to go outside for a run, get a Jamoca Almond Fudge ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts (which probably cancelled out the benefits of the run but I'm not out here trying to lose weight I just love running) and finally made my way to the post office.

I basically broke out my stationary weekend outfit for this one. I threw on my favorite pair of distressed boyfriend jeans (seen in my last post), my ACDC tee from Forever 21  (also forever ago), a boyfriend blazer, and I'm almost embarrassed to say this but my Topshop Sliders. There so comfortable and they go with everything, literally everything.

Blazer: H&M

Ain't it Funny

Happy Wednesday!! I've noticed something among New Yorkers lately. We're in denial right now. Let me explain. Basically we have been oppressed by winter for so long that the moment the sun starts shining and the weather is anything over 50 degrees we parade about in our spring attire. We're breaking out the leather jackets, the trench coats, slip sneakers, etc. We'll do this despite the fact that the temperature drops dramatically at night. So all of us in our leather jackets and trench coats, me included, trek to 14th Street or where ever basically freezing; hands stuffed deep in our pockets. But if you were to glance at our faces you would never be able to tell.

I'm no exception and I'm fine with that. I've been breaking out my spring wear since the temp hit 45. Today was no different of course. Recently on a trip to Topshop to assist my friend pick an outfit for her party I ended up purchasing a few items for myself, because .....why not?
This Tropical Print crop crew neck from Topshop has been serving me well so far. It has that slightly corny Miami Vice feel to it. I paired it with my distressed boyfriend jeans from forever ago and my white TopShop Embossed Snake Skaters.

Sweatshirt: Topshop Palm Sweat
